I am in the midst of an extremely challenging season in life. I have not really been able to express to anyone the kind of pressure that I am under, and that’s ok, because that’s the nature of certain seasons of life. I am thankful for many amazing friends who are encouraging and supportive and who have been praying for me. If you are one of those people, please keep it up. God alone knows how much I need it, and I am thankful that He has been moving people to pray and to encourage me.
Today, out of nowhere and for no circumstantial reason, the weight of the world fell on my shoulders. I have been praying through the day and depending on God’s strength moment by moment. God said to me this afternoon, “I get it. It’s tough. Just keep moving forward. You’ll get through this. This won’t last forever.”
As the lies kept flooding in, my friend Rachel called me to pray for me. Right after I hung up the phone with her, I happened upon a Facebook post with the lyrics from the song Everything by Lifehouse, and it absolutely describes the prayer of my heart tonight. There is nothing that can more perfectly describe how I am feeling tonight. I can absolutely say that my Jesus is EVERYTHING to me, and He truly is all I want. It was so important to be reminded that His presence is where I find peace. Here are the powerful words to the song:
“Find me here, and speak to me.
I want to feel You, I need to hear You.
You are the light that’s leading me
To the place where I find peace again.
You are the strength that keeps me walking.
You are the hope that keeps me trusting.
You are the light to my soul.
You are my purpose, You’re everything.
How can I stand here with You and not be moved by You?
Would you tell me, how could it be any better than this?
You calm the storms and You give me rest.
You hold me in Your hands, You won’t let me fall.
You steal my heart, won’t You take my breath away?
Would You take me in, take me deeper now?
And how can I stand here with You and not be moved by You?
Would You tell me, how could it be any better than this?
‘Cause You’re all I want, You’re all I need,
You’re everything, everything.”
