We had our inauguration service for our church Puerta Abierta this past Sunday, May 5th. Many hours and days of preparation went into this event. We were only able to enter the church building we rent on May 1st, and that was very little time to get everything done. Our entire team worked hard to paint the walls, scrub the floors, fix the bathrooms up, set chairs up in the sanctuary, and get the sound equipment and instruments put together for the church. Thanks to many generous sponsors, we were able to have everything we needed to begin ministry. We prepared children’s activities, music, a drama, and a message to give on Sunday.
The service was truly a blessing as we had 59 people altogether. We had several surprise visitors coming from as far away as Quito. The true joy, however, were the 17 adults and 11 children from Ambato that came as a result of the leading of the Holy Spirit. 5 came forward to accept Christ. We experienced true joy as we looked into the faces of the people we had prayed for since we started the process to join Extreme. For me, it has been over a year. For months we tried to imagine their faces in our minds, but there is nothing like standing face to face, smiling at them and having them smile back. God is truly at work in Ambato, and we are excited and honored to be a part of it.
